Social Media Manager & Content Strategist (Contract)

Heron House Management is seeking a creative, strategic freelance (1099) Social Media Manager & Content Strategist to help us grow our audience, establish our founder as a trusted thought leader, and convert our content into meaningful engagement, media opportunities, and qualified leads.

Our audience consists primarily of busy working parents—especially mothers—who are balancing careers, households, and family life while carrying the invisible mental load. We're looking for someone who understands this audience and knows how to create content that genuinely resonates.

About the Role

This is more than a content scheduling role. We're looking for a strategic partner who understands how to maximize the value of existing content, identify emerging trends, and create highly engaging social media that drives organic growth.

Our primary social platforms are Instagram and Facebook.

We already have a strong foundation of content, including:

  • A weekly podcast

  • A blog

  • Established branding and Canva templates

  • A clear brand voice and messaging

Your role will be to amplify, repurpose, optimize, and strategically distribute this content while identifying opportunities to create new content that expands our reach.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a monthly Instagram and Facebook content strategy

  • Optimize our social presence for audience growth and engagement

  • Create highly engaging, shareable Reels and short-form videos that maximize organic reach

  • Repurpose long-form content into compelling social media posts

  • Create podcast clips from recorded episodes for Reels and social media

  • Promote new podcast episodes 2x per week

  • Promote blog content 1–2 times per month

  • Customize and update existing Canva templates while maintaining brand consistency

  • Write compelling captions with strong storytelling and clear calls to action

  • Recommend content ideas based on trends, audience behavior, analytics, and platform best practices

  • Monitor performance and provide recommendations for continuous improvement

Success in this role means helping us:

  • Grow an engaged Instagram and Facebook audience

  • Increase website traffic and qualified leads

  • Increase podcast downloads and visibility

  • Build recognition for Heron House Management as a trusted voice in the mental load, motherhood, executive function, and working parent space

  • Position our founder as a respected peer and thought leader among creators in this space

  • Build authentic relationships with other creators, podcasts, and brands serving working parents

  • Identify opportunities for collaborations, podcast guest appearances, speaking opportunities, and earned media coverage

Preferred Experience

Experience working with brands in one or more of these areas is strongly preferred:

  • Motherhood

  • Working parents

  • Productivity

  • ADHD or executive functioning

Bonus points if you have experience with:

  • Public relations or media outreach

  • Securing podcast guest appearances or speaking opportunities

  • Thought leadership campaigns

  • SEO-informed content strategy

  • Building founder-led personal brands
